Pupils at St Charles’ Catholic Primary School in Spennymoor enjoyed an exciting and educational science experience yesterday as they took part in Energy LIVE!, a fascinating show presented by Thomas from The Royal Institution.

The audience-led event gave children the opportunity to explore different stores of energy and discover how energy affects everyday life. Through a series of engaging fire-based demonstrations, Thomas brought the topic to life, helping pupils understand complex scientific vocabulary in a fun, memorable and accessible way.

Throughout the show, children learned about different types of energy, including elastic energy and gravitational energy, while developing their understanding of how energy is stored and transferred. The interactive demonstrations encouraged pupils to think scientifically, ask questions and engage fully with the learning experience.

The visit proved to be a fantastic opportunity to inspire curiosity and enthusiasm for science. Pupils were highly engaged throughout the performance and left with a greater understanding of the world around them, along with plenty of exciting science facts to share at home.

The learning continued into the evening, with families invited to take part in a special follow-up show. The school would like to thank everyone who was able to attend and enjoy the experience alongside their children. The support shown by families is greatly appreciated and helps to create memorable learning opportunities that extend beyond the classroom.

Events such as Energy LIVE! help bring learning to life, inspiring young minds and encouraging a lifelong interest in science and discovery.
