A Fantastic First Event for St Charles
St Charles Catholic Primary School in Spennymoor proudly hosted its inaugural park run in collaboration with Victoria Jubilee Junior Parkrun, creating a fantastic morning of fun, fitness and community spirit.
The opportunity came about after one of our Year 1 pupils became the 2,000th runner at Victoria Jubilee Junior Parkrun just before Christmas, earning the school the chance to participate in this special event.
Nearly 200 Pupils Take on the 2km Challenge
For our first park run, almost 200 St Charles pupils gathered at the park to tackle the 2km course. The event was a wonderful celebration of participation and perseverance, with children of all abilities taking part.
Some pupils were completing a park run for the very first time, others were achieving their first ever 2km distance, and many were delighted to record new personal bests.
The determination, enthusiasm and positive attitude shown by all the children made the morning a tremendous success.
A Community Effort
A huge thank you goes to Matthew, the event organiser, and the dedicated team of volunteers from Victoria Jubilee Junior Parkrun, who had everything perfectly prepared for us on arrival. Their support, encouragement and organisation made the event possible.
We would also like to thank the Friends of St Charles, who volunteered their time to walk alongside participants and assist with marshalling duties throughout the course. Their support helped ensure the event ran smoothly and safely for everyone involved.
Looking Ahead to Next Year
With beautiful weather, enthusiastic runners and a fantastic atmosphere, the inaugural St Charles park run was a memorable occasion for pupils, staff and families alike.
The school is incredibly proud of every child who took part and embraced the challenge with such determination and enthusiasm.
Following the success of this year's event, we are already excited about the possibility of making it an annual tradition and look forward to hopefully running again next year!
